Set up YPNGO
on your router

Before you begin

Open the router settings.

  1. Turn off any VPN on the phone or computer you are using for setup so it can reach the local router page.
  2. Connect your phone or computer to your GL.iNet router’s main Wi-Fi or a LAN port.
  3. Open 192.168.8.1 ↗ in your browser. If you changed the router’s LAN address, use that address instead. If a privacy warning appears, see the browser warning note below.
  4. For a router that is already set up, sign in with your router admin password. On a new router, follow its initial setup prompts to create an admin password and configure Wi-Fi. If you change the Wi-Fi details, reconnect using the new details.

Browser says “This connection is not private”?

The router’s local HTTPS page uses a self-signed certificate, so your browser may show a privacy warning. The screenshots below show Safari; other browsers use different wording.

First check that you are connected to your router and the address is 192.168.8.1 (or the LAN address you set). For that local router page, Safari’s Show Details opens the visit this website option. Follow the confirmation prompts to open the router login.

  1. Connect the router to the internet and check that you can browse a website from the phone or computer connected to it.
  2. If your router offers Network Acceleration, open Network → Network Acceleration in the GL.iNet admin panel. Some models call it Hardware Acceleration or place it in another menu.

  1. Turn Enable off and click Apply. Keep acceleration off while using YPNGO. If your router does not offer this setting, continue to step 02.
Why turn off Network Acceleration?

With acceleration enabled, websites can stall even when YPNGO says Connected. Use the GL.iNet setting rather than the offloading options in LuCI. Turning it off may reduce the router’s maximum forwarding speed.

Want to check the router firmware?

Open System → Upgrade to view the installed firmware version. Return to System → Advanced Settings to continue.

Open Advanced Settings.

  1. Open System → Advanced Settings in the GL.iNet router sidebar.
  2. If Install or Install Now is shown, click it and wait for installation to finish. If Go To LuCI is already shown, continue below.
  3. Click Go To LuCI.

  1. Sign in with username root and the same router admin password you used in step 01.

  1. In LuCI’s top menu, choose System → Software.

  1. Click Update lists… and wait for it to finish. Close the result dialog.

Install YPNGO.

  1. Copy the installation link for Beryl AX. Use the router selector above for a different model.

  1. In System → Software, paste the link into Download and install package and click OK.

  1. The router asks you to confirm an installation from outside its built-in package list. Check that the link begins with https://downloads.ypngo.com/ and matches your selected model, then click Install.

  1. Wait for installation to finish. Close the result dialog, then refresh the page.
How do I update YPNGO later?

YPNGO does not install package updates automatically.

  1. Choose your router model above and copy its installation link.
  2. Repeat steps 02–03 to install the latest published version.
  3. Open Services → YPNGO again. Package updates keep your YPNGO sign-in and selected device.

Open the YPNGO setup page.

  1. In LuCI’s top menu, choose Services → YPNGO.

Sign in with your email.

If the YPNGO page opens your device list or connection status directly, you’re already signed in. Continue from step 06 or step 08.

  1. On your first visit, read the Your privacy screen and select Continue.

  1. Enter the email address for your YPNGO account.
  2. Click Send code.

  1. Check your email inbox for the six-digit code.
  2. Enter the code on the router page, then choose Verify code.

Choose your YPNGO device.

  1. Choose a YPNGO device marked Online.
  2. Select the device you want this router to connect to.
  3. Click Continue. If the button says Connect, this router already has an interruption preference saved. Click it and continue to step 08, or open Settings first to review that preference.

Devices on this router’s main Wi-Fi or LAN will browse through the YPNGO device you select. It needs to be powered on, connected to the internet, and claimed by your account.

Choose what happens if VPN drops.

  1. Choose how the router should handle interruptions using one of the options below.
RECOMMENDED

Enable kill switch

Blocks traffic while YPNGO recovers the VPN connection. Your internet may pause during an interruption.

OPTIONAL

Allow normal internet fallback

Keeps devices online using the router’s normal internet connection when YPNGO is unavailable. That traffic won’t go through YPNGO.

  1. Click Connect.
  2. Wait for the connection to complete. The router saves this preference for future connections.

Verify the connection.

  1. Look for “This network is protected” and the green Protected badge.
  2. Open a website on a phone or computer connected to the router’s main Wi-Fi or LAN to check that you can browse.

The router reconnects automatically after a reboot. You can return to Services → YPNGO to see status, change settings, or disconnect.

Troubleshooting

Check the following if setup fails.

YPNGO is connected, but websites keep loading.

Open the GL.iNet admin panel and turn off Network → Network Acceleration if your model offers it, then apply the change and retry the website. Keep acceleration off while using YPNGO. Check this setting again after a firmware update. Use the GL.iNet setting rather than LuCI offloading options. See GL.iNet’s Network Acceleration guide ↗. If websites still fail, send a bug report from the YPNGO setup page and describe which devices and websites fail.

YPNGO checks acceleration before connecting. If it is on, turn it off yourself and choose Check again in YPNGO. If YPNGO cannot check it automatically, inspect the setting yourself before confirming that check and continuing. YPNGO does not change your router’s acceleration setting.

YPNGO disappeared after a router firmware update.

A GL.iNet firmware update can remove the YPNGO package and its setup page without factory-resetting your router. Reinstall using the installation link in step 03. YPNGO configures its update source again. Open YPNGO and sign in if prompted.

For future firmware updates, choose Keep Settings before upgrading. YPNGO package version 0.1.0-45 or later can back up its session and custom source with that option; version 0.1.0-56 and later also preserves its update key. The package itself must still be reinstalled afterward. That YPNGO version must be installed before the firmware upgrade; installing it afterward cannot restore a session or source that was already lost.

I can’t open the router page.

Make sure your phone or computer is connected to this router’s Wi-Fi or LAN and turn off any VPN on that phone or computer. Open http://192.168.8.1 directly in the address bar. If you changed the router’s LAN address, use that address instead.

The package doesn’t appear or won’t install.

Check that the router can access the internet and that you selected its exact model. Install using the link in step 03; the package does not need to appear in Plug-ins first. Let each operation finish before retrying.

Missing LuCI packages can prevent installation on any model. Open System → Advanced Settings, use Install or Install Now if shown, and wait for LuCI to finish installing. Then return to System → Software and try the installation link again.

I can’t find the YPNGO page.

Confirm the YPNGO package is installed. Go to System → Advanced Settings → Go To LuCI, sign in with username root and your router admin password, and choose Services → YPNGO.

My email code hasn’t arrived.

Check your spam folder and the email address you entered. Wait a little on a slow connection. Use Resend code to request another code and enter the newest one. If the email address is wrong, choose Use a different email.

No device is available.

Use the YPNGO account that owns the device. If it hasn’t been claimed yet, claim it in the YPNGO app first. If it appears offline, make sure the YPNGO device is powered on and connected to the internet.

It’s stuck connecting, or my internet stopped.

Check that the router has an internet connection and your selected YPNGO device is online. With the kill switch enabled, traffic can pause while YPNGO reconnects. You can review your preference in Settings; normal internet fallback allows browsing outside YPNGO when the VPN is unavailable. If the problem persists, open Diagnostics on the YPNGO page for connection details.
